Artist of the Month

Virgene is a passionate mosaic artist with over 20 years of experience in the craft. Mostly self-taught, Virgene’s journey was enriched by an Emerging Art grant that enabled mentorship under the renowned mosaic artist Cassie Edmonds. Her work has been featured in galleries and art shows across Kansas, Minnesota, Texas, and Missouri. Notably, her vibrant mosaic suns have appeared on CBS Sunday Morning as transition pieces seven times, with one piece earning a spot among the producer's top 38 favorite suns.
Virgene creates mosaics from her own photos as well as abstract designs, and she enjoys sharing her love of the art form by teaching classes. Over the years, her workspace has evolved from a small basement room to a dedicated studio in her backyard, where she continues to create with enthusiasm. Virgene truly loves mosaics!
Virgene's art will be on display from September 3 - September 28 in scott hall of the Center for spiritual living.
